Chateau de Montfin is situated in the limestone hills of Corbieres where they approach the sea. The view is magnificent. The Esteve family bought their first vineyards in 2002. They subsequently built the magnificent and imposing winery.
Today Jerome Esteve manages the estate
The facilities are amazing. A combination of tradition and the latest technology. The barrel room with its seductive sweet smell of oak stands alongside gleaming stainless steel tanks. Jerome certainly knows how to use these facilities to good effect. The wines are magnificent.
The estate has full organic certification. Jerome is experimenting with some biodynamic practices. In the winter he keeps donkeys in some of the vines to keep the grass down and fertilise the vines.
In the nearby village of Peyriac de Mer there is a shop open for tastings and purchases. If you arrive during lunch time you can have a very pleasant lunch in the main square while you wait for the shop to open
