The warm climate of the South of France and the skill of it's winemakers make it one of the most exciting winemaking regions in the World. These wines outshine those from more established regions that sell for several times the price. To help you explore them we have put together some mixed cass - 6 red wines and a mixed case of 4 reds and 2 whites.
Some of our favourite winemakers are based in this region.
Jean-Baptiste Trilles produces some amazingly full flavoured wines from his old bush vines, some are as much as 100 years old.
Chateau Montfin is a beautiful property situated where the Corbieres mountains meet the Meditteranean. Jerome Esteve produces intense smooth red wines and small quantities of a magnificent barrel-fermented white from Roussanne and Grenache Blanc. Oak-aged whites were a real highlight of our buying trip last summer. These are original wines of great quality that rarely leave their region.
Domaine de La Toupie is situated in the spectacular countryside close to the Spanish border. A dry arid land of Cathar castles and vertiginous mountains where little except vines will grow.
Thierry Rodriguez is a very experienced winemaker, who has invested in a spectacular winery with an impressive barrel room, where he produces outstanding red wines and a barrel-fermented Chardonnay reminiscent of a very fine Burgundy.
