Domaine Les Pampres d’Or is a family owned estate of 10 ha situated at relatively high altitude in the Southern part of Burgundy/Beaujolais. It has long followed the sustainable practices of “Terra Vitis”. Now that son Julien Perrras has taken charge they are in the process of gaining full organic status. 2018 will be the first vintage of organic certification (a 3 year conversion period is required).
Julien is also building on the traditional winemaking practices of the Domaine, investing in oak "demi muids", large barrels of 500 Litres, and planting Pinot Noir. The advantage of demi muids is that they give the wine complexity and balance without being too overtly oaky.
Julien's sister Berengere has now joined the business, and his parents Nicole and Paul retired
